The Human Foundation is an emerging initiative — a growing intellectual and cultural project dedicated to exploring and strengthening the human capacities, institutions, relationships, and forms of participation necessary for human flourishing in an age of increasingly capable artificial intelligence. It is a platform for inquiry, conversation, and action.
Why We Exist
The conversation about artificial intelligence has been dominated by questions of capability: what the systems can do, how quickly they improve, and who will build them first.
The human questions have received far less attention, even though they will determine what the capability is for. The Human Foundation exists to give those questions a serious home.
What We Believe
Human worth is not a performance score. Technological progress and human progress are not the same thing, and they only coincide when we intend them to.
We are not opposed to artificial intelligence. We are opposed to a civilization that quietly redefines people according to what machines can now do.
What We Study
Work and automation. Education and formation. Economics and distribution. Participation and belonging. Wisdom, character, and human development. Institutions under strain. The evidence, not only the arguments.
What We Publish
